my end of year accounts are due next month & am wondering how much they're going to set me back? on average, how much do they cost?

tips for finding a good accountant for a small limited company?
we have done our books ourselves over the last year, in a very simple layman's format. basically evidence of what we've made, and what we've spent on a weekly basis. is that enough for an accountant to work from?
any other tips would be super. this is our first time! =============
if you've kept some record of your transactions and if they're in an electronic format then that should help lower the cost of getting your annual accounts done.
for an average small ltd company i shouldn't think you'd be looking at huge amounts probably in the region of ?-800.
theres plenty of good accountants in this forum and they'l soon make a post. PM your details and circumstances and i'm sure someone will give you a decent enough quote. ;-)
good luck =============
When you say they are due next month, do you mean it is the year end?
You should speak to an accountant before the year end to make use of any tax efficient opportunties.
You will probably need a bit of bookkeeping work to reconcile bank statements but the records you have should be a good starting point.
You should contact an accountant, many will offer a free consultation.
A small accounting firm will be more likley to have a flexible approach to pricing and the fees will depend on the total service package required. =============

You might consider using a DIY Accounting package for limited company accounts as by inserting your numbers into the spreadsheets it will produce your year end accounts in the format for submission to HMRC and Comapnies House.
After completing the accounts you should ask any questions regarding tax etc., in this forum where you would get excellent free advice. Alternatively I know there are several accounting firms in this forum who would give you a very good quote for reviewing a set of accounts that were complete anyway. =============
You may well be able to prepare accounts using Terry's software, but IMHO you should definitely get an accountant to do your corporation tax return, in which case they might as well at least cast an eye over the accounts before they're filed. They'll need to read them anyway, to do the CT for you. =============
have a look at the sticky on how to get an accountant =============
